Workshop Agenda: Information Security, January 10

The Information Security Workshop will explore the current security threat landscape, and discuss tools and strategies to combat ransomware, fraud, and other types of attacks. The day's program is under development but here are a few of the topics we hope to address:
  • SSL certificates - what they are, how they work, how much they typically cost (and how to get them for free through the CCC Information Security Center)
  • Splunk - how colleges can leverage this service to improve visibility into anomolous activity on the network
  • Ransomware - a look at this growing threat and best practices to defend against attacks
  • Social engineering attacks - what they look like, how to protect yourself, and what to do if you suspect you've been targeted

The CCC Information Security Center is funded under the Shared Infrastructure Program grant by the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office in order to provide information security services, training and technical assistance free of charge to all community colleges, statewide.
