Cases

Special Immigrant Juvenile Status Statewide. Children who have been abused, abandoned, or neglected by one or more parents may be eligible for SIJS. It involves representation of the child’s sponsor in family court. Attorneys licensed to practice in Maryland are invited to take Custody, Guardianship, and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status to learn how to represent the sponsor in the family court - completing the vital first step in obtaining SIJS for an unaccompanied child.

Asylum Statewide, but volunteers will need to be prepared to go to Baltimore City or Arlington at some point during the case. Unaccompanied children and families who fear returning to their home country because of persecution for a particular reason may be eligible to apply for asylum. Attorneys licensed to practice in any-state are invited to take ASYLUM-APPROVED! to learn how to represent asylum-seekers.
