Competitive City and Town Centres 

A Conference for businesses and policy makers who want competitive, vibrant and attractive city and town centres

 Competitive City and Town Centres”  is a half day conference for anyone interested in how businesses in our cities and towns  can enhance their competitive advantage, work together to improve  their locations and  make sure that they are a destination of choice. The days of expecting things to go well without proactive planning and management are gone.

 The experienced and insightful speaking panel will discuss initiatives which can create the right environment for our cities and town to compete more effectively in a challenging economic environment.  Speakers will also share their insights into successful commercial management and work with businesses in the collective presentation and promotion of a commercial district.

The conference will start with reguistration at 8.30am and finish at 1.30pm with a nextworking lunch.

Current speakers include:

  • Minister Phil Hogan T.D. Minster for Environment, Community and Local Government;
  • Richard Guiney, Dublin City BID, CEO;
  • Feargal Quinn, Superquinn founder, Independent Senator, and presenter of Feargal Quinn's Retail Therapy (RTE);
  • Andy Godfrey, Policy Manager, Alliance Boots;
  • Phil Walsh, CEO, Good's of Kilkenny;
  • Paul Cadden, Owner, Saba Restaurant, past President of the Restaurant Association of Ireland;
  • Matt Cooper, TV/Radio broadcaster will chair the conference.

 

More Information

This national conference is being facilitated by the Dublin City Business Improvement District (BID), a not-for-profit organisation that works on behalf of its members to create an attractive welcoming, vibrant and economically successful city centre commercial district. The BID employs town centre management techniques in a complex urban environment to promote the city centre as a retail and recreation destination. There are two business improvement districts in Ireland -  Dublin and Dundalk.
