Your Deaf/Hard of Hearing Reader's Journey: Reading Aloud in ASL
This 4-week online workshop will focus on effective techniques for reading children/picture books aloud in ASL. Deaf children's reading experiences can go beyond the classroom. Families, parents, grandparents, siblings, caregivers, and professionals contribute to the young readers' language and literacy growth. The presenter will share effective techniques for reading children's books in ASL.
You will learn:
- Various positions holding or propping the book
- How to incorporate classifiers in your signed read alouds
- How to make connections more visual and interactive
- Tips on engaging your child during reading, extending experiences with the book
- How to maximize the reading journey
