Autism Spectrum Disorder:
Foundation Training for Educators

 

This virtual FREE two-day workshop is designed for special educators, related service providers, and administrators who work with children with ASD and other developmental disabilities. Practical information regarding the use of specific types of supports, as well as ways to troubleshoot problem situations will be provided.  Upon completion participants will have practical information regarding how ASD affects classroom performance and what to do to provide better services.   

Course Objectives: 

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

1. Describe the core characteristics of autism.
2. Identify evidence-based practices.
3. Develop a quality classroom for students with autism.
4. Address challenging behavior through preventative strategies and supports. 
5. Describe the experiences of both an individual with autism and parents of children with autism.  
6. Describe the importance of their role as a team member.
7. Identify strategies to motivate change to improve outcomes for the students with autism they serve.
