Trauma-Informed Services
with Dr. Janine D'Anniballe  

We know survivors of violence, control, and abuse have experienced trauma, but what does it mean for them, us, and our programs? 

Research is showing us how trauma affects the physiology of the brain. 

• The bad news: trauma can change our brains’ functioning, and impact people’s functioning in the world. 
  
• The good news: those effects don’t have to be permanent, and understanding how trauma works can help advocates respond to survivors compassionately, assist survivors in understanding their experiences, and point the way to healing.
• More good news: Trauma informed services are survivor-centered services!  With our emphasis on empowerment and deep respect for each survivor’s dignity, we have been on the right track for supporting recovery from trauma. This training will help you deepen your understanding and hone your skills.    

Who Is Training?

We are fortunate to have Dr. Janine D’Anniballe with us to teach about trauma and its impact and how to support survivors of trauma.  Dr. D’Anniballe has extensive experience with trauma, survivors of sexual and domestic violence, and the work of community-based organizations.

Who Should Attend?

People at all levels in DV or DV/SA organizations should attend.

The information will be relevant to people who:

• write grants (as funders become more attuned to ‘trauma informed’ services),
• plan program and policy (how do we create trauma informed programs?), and
  
• provide direct advocacy (apply the skills and insights immediately in your advocacy).
