Event Details
After Words is a 55-minute documentary which features famed neurologist & author Oliver Sacks, Tony Award winning actress Julie Harris, Grammy Award winning musician Bobby McFerrin, and many other whose lives have been touched by aphasia, an acquired communication disorder.  After Words movingly illuminates the struggles and triumphs of individuals touched by aphasia and related disorders.  For more information about the film and possible airings on your local public television station, please visit http://www.aphasia.org/afterwords.html

The Aphasia Cafe is a unique collection of poems that write the lives of individuals who, because of stroke and dementia, have lost all or part of their ability to use language. Written by a award-winning poet-neurologist, Dr. Dawn McGuire, the aphasia poems explore what happens to a person — a self — when language, the tool we use to construct who we are, suddenly fractures along one of its many fault lines.  For more information, please visit: http://www.ifsfpublishing.com/the-aphasia-cafe/
