What is Sword Training?
We would like to assist you parents in teaching your children how to use their Bibles. Afterall, a Bible is useless to them if they aren't trained how to use it. We will be spending most of our time learning how to navigate through a Bible along with memorizing lots of core scripture through games, songs, and incentives.
Will this require anything of me during the week?
Yes, we will strongly encouraging the children to work on their memory work throughout the week. Taking as little as 10 minutes a day will prove deeply fruitful in their ability to memorize. We realize everyone has full schedules and will be more than gracious with any child that is struggling to memorize. But, we expect to be amazed by what a child is capable of memorizing with just a little coaching.
Will they need to bring anything?
Yes, the will need to bring a full version of the Bible (as opposed to a children's picture Bible).
We will be using ESV and NIV in class but they are free to bring any version. Also, as part of their training, we will be underlining key passages in their Bibles so have them come with one you are comfortable writing in.
Who: 2nd - 4th graders (along with 1st graders whose parents commit to attend with them)
When: Wednesday Nights (October 5th - April 26th)
Time: 7 - 8:30pm, drop off and pick-up at Castle Room
Cost: Payment is not required, however we would ask participants to consider giving $5-10 each to help offset the costs of printing, supplies, and rewards. These funds can be submitted to Bethany Church with "Sword Training" designated on a memo.
Parents are welcome and encouraged to stay but are by no means required to do so.
