The French Riviera (Cote d'Azur), France. We will stay in Cagnes-sur-Mer, providing a convenient, central location for exploring the region.
The itinerary of the workshop is designed to give participants ample time to concentrate on their photography at our stops and receive feedback on their work over the course of the trip. Participants will return home with rewarding images and memories to last a lifetime.
The nearest international airport is Nice International Airport (NCE). From the U.S. you can get a connecting flight to this airport. Typically from the U.S. you would fly on September 12, arriving on September 13. Your return flight can be booked for September 20th. Depending on your flight arrangements you may arrive back in the U.S. the same day, or you will have an overnight stay in a connecting European city and arrive back in the U.S. on September 21st. Please do not book your non-refundable airfare until notified by workshop leader. We will try to consolidate airport arrival and departure times to minimize wait times in Nice airport.
If you plan to arrive or depart from some place other than Nice Airport or at times outside of the designated group transportation window, you may need to arrange your own transportation to/from our lodging at your own cost.
All skill levels are welcome. Participants must be familiar with basic camera operation, including the setting of aperture, shutter speed and ISO. Whether you are a beginner or advanced photographer, the small group setting enables a tailored learning experience for all. Some experience with image editing software such as Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom or Photoshop Elements is advisable. Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop running the latest version of their image editing software. The workshop size is limited to 8 participants.

It's no wonder this exciting region of France has been popular with aristocracy and artists alike. Journey to the places that inspired such masters as Monet, Renoir, Matisse, Chagall, Picasso and more. Nice, Villefranche-sur-Mer, Éze, Saint-Paul-de-Vence, Haut de Cagnes and Antibes are some of the stunning locations we plan to explore.
During the workshop, Mary Louise will help
you capture the distinctiveness and vitality of these locations with your camera. Learn how to shoot like a travel photographer capturing the grand vistas, the quiet back street scenes, the glamour of the nightlife and the sweet moments of real life that collectively convey a sense of this beautiful corner of the world.
A variety of photographic opportunities await you:
In addition to our time in the field photographing, throughout the trip there will be informal lectures, discussions about equipment, technique and shooting strategy, as well as supportive image feedback sessions, so you can improve your picture-making along the way.
