This fast-moving discussion will include several members of the Board, liaisons to the Board and senior level staff. Keynote Address: Taking Steps to Address Opioid Overprescribing: A Surgeon’s Perspective on Creating Actionable Measures and Best Practices in One of the Nation’s Leading Health Systems  Over the summer, the White House declared the opioid epidemic as a national emergency.  One in 16 patients become chronic users, according to new research by doctors at the University of Michigan.  Even more alarming, research shows that relapse rates after opioid addiction treatment could be as high as 91%.  In addition to expanding treatment, it’s time we address the root of the problem — overprescribing.  Learn how John Hopkins Surgical Team is addressing this issue, one surgical procedure at a time, with a combination of metrics, data sharing reports assessing practice patterns and best practices among providers.
