Nurse Unity Day at the Legislature

West Virginia State Capitol Complex

Wednesday, January 31, 2018

"West Virginia - Why Nurses Should Stay"!

You are cordially invited to join us January 31, 2018 at the WV State Capitol Complex as we Celebrate, Nurse Unity Day.  We are thrilled to have Huntington Fire Chief, Jan Rader, RN; West Virginia's First Female Fire Chief as our Keynote Speaker.  The objective for this year's annual event is to communicate a very clear message of why our nurses should remain in West Virginia serving the citizens of our beautiful state.  There is a nationwide nursing shortage, and our state is not exempt, we want to keep our West Virginia nurses practicing at home, near their family, in the great state of West Virginia!

We hope you make plans to join us!

Huntington Fire Chief, Jan Rader appeared on NBC'S "Meet the Press" in October, and was also invited to the Obama Foundation Summit this fall, to discuss the issues that she and Huntington's first responders face as a result of the Opioid Epidemic.  Chief Rader is one of three women highlighted in the Netfilx documentary "Heroin(e)" which focuses on the area problems surrounding heroin and opioid use.

A true public servant, Rader is an RN and West Virginia's first female Fire Chief.  We hope you enjoy her story and encourage your to watch "Heroin(e)" before attending Unity Day!
