Interactive CME Conference 

Please join California Chapter 1, American Academy of Pediatrics for its 5th Annual Pediatric Puzzles Interactive CME Conference! This year's topics include Advocacy & Children at the Border, Climate Change, Racism & Implicit Bias, and Pediatric Dermatology. There will also be Community Access to Child Health (CATCH) Grant Updates and breakout sessions to catch up with colleagues.

FACULTY BIOS

Colleen Kraft, MD, MBA, FAAP

Colleen A. Kraft, MD, MBA, FAAP is Professor of Pediatrics at the Keck School of Medicine/University of Southern California and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. She is the 2018 Past President of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Her work includes integration of behavioral health into primary care practice. As President of the American Academy of Pediatrics in 2018, Dr. Kraft is best known for her advocacy for humane treatment of migrant children at the US-Mexico border. Her explanation to the public regarding the harm to young children during the “Zero Tolerance” policy that included separation of children from parents at the border helped to mobilize advocates across the political spectrum to end this policy. She continues to advocate for basic child rights for children throughout the world.

Pearl Kwong, MD, PhD

Pearl Chu Kwong MD PhD is a board-certified pediatric dermatologist in private practice in Jacksonville, Florida. Dr Kwong has authored and coauthored more than a dozen peer-reviewed articles as well as several article abstracts. She has presented more than 100 presentations and participated at conferences and student lectures.  She has been a reviewer for Pediatric Dermatology Journal and Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. Dr Kwong is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, Society for Pediatric Dermatology, Women’s Dermatologic Society, and Jacksonville Dermatology Society. 

Aparna Bole, MD, FAAP

Aparna Bole, MD, FAAP, is Medical Director of Community Integration at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital and an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, OH.  She is particularly interested in the intersection between environmental sustainability and pediatric public health. She serves as chair of the American Academy of Pediatrics Council on Environmental Health and as co-chair of the Healthcare Without Harm board of directors.  She is also a faculty affiliate of the Swetland Center for Environmental Health at CWRU, a member of the Trust for Public Land’s Ohio advisory committee, a member of the Lead Safe Cleveland Coalition’s steering committee and the State of Ohio’s Lead Advisory Council, and is a founding advisory council member of the Ohio Clinicians for Climate Action.

Adiaha Spinks-Franklin, MD, MPH, FAAP

Adiaha Spinks-Franklin, MD, MPH is a board certified Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrician at Texas Children’s Hospital and Associate Professor of Pediatrics for Baylor College of Medicine. As a Fellow in the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), she serves as the Education Committee Chair on the Executive Committee of the Section of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics (SODBP) and is an active member of the Section on Minority Health, Equity and Inclusion (MHEI). As a member of the Society of Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics (SDBP), she served on the Board of Directors and as Co-Chair of the Advocacy Committee. She currently serves as co-chair of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee of the SDBP. She is Founder of the pediatric anti-racism social justice organization Race and Children Educational Collaborative of Anti-Racist Developmental-Behavioral Professionals (RACE CARD). She has participated in global health care projects.
