Three presentations, one each by Dr. Don Huber, Dr. Evaggelos Vallianatos, author of Poison Spring and IPM member Maggie Sergio   

Dr. Don Huber is an internationally famous scientist specializing in the study of glyphosate, the chief ingredient in Roundup, and the detrimental nature of GMOs. He is the author of three books, 84 special publications, 35 experiment station bulletins, 51 book chapters and 115 journal articles, many of which deal with the problems of glyphosate and its effect on an area’s ecological health. A heavy application of glyphosate was recently proposed for use on Ring Mountain, Marin County near schools and private residences.

Dr. Evaggelos Vallianatos, author of Poison Spring, worked as an EPA commissioner for 25 years. He saw the EPA collapsing under pressure from Monsanto and other industries to allow glyphosate to be introduced into agriculture, home gardening and weed control in public lands. He also heard the complaints of other EPA officials about the unscrupulous research done to justify introducing glyphosate, but was basically ordered, along with the other officials, not to stop its introduction.

Maggie Sergio is the retiring head of Marin's Integrated Pest Management Committee. As a conservationist, she has been researching and reporting about a variety of environmental issues, including the impact of rodenticides (rat poisons) on wildlife, the open air testing of experimental pesticides and GMOs in Hawaii, and the little known industry behind the practice of island eradications. Maggie founded Island Watch Conservation Science in 2014.
