Disaster Preparedness and Response: Building Capacity - A Case for Care Integration 

 

A conference sponsored by Puerto Rico Academy of Medical Directors, Inc., Disaster Psychiatry Outreach and Vibrant Emotional Health to share "lived experience" of responding and rebuilding systems following the devastation of the recent natural disasters.

The official total number of Continuing Education Hours: 11 Hours

The Continue Education is for the following professionals: Health Administrators, Counselors, Dentists, Health Educators and Community Health Educators, Nurses, Physicians, Psychologists, Medical Emergency Technicians and Social Workers.  

Agenda

Disaster Preparedness and Response - lessons learned; capacity building, existing community needs and vulnerabilities - how to best capitalize on good will post disaster and move beyond the emergency.

Best Practices and Innovation - outcome driven care, restructuring ways to pay for care in the times of limited resources. "Reusing the wheel" - best practices and innovation across the states.

Total Health approach - medical, behavioral, substance use, pharmacy and wellness integration. Making a case for integrated care.

Provider Toolbox – concrete tools and approaches including Infrastructure and Arts as health care.

Target Audience: Primary Care Providers, Mental Health Community providers, Policy Makers, First Responders and public at large – 200-250 attendees.
