Join us as we go over the result of the 2014 Legislative Session! Hear from Executive Director Juhan Mixon, Ed.D. and Jessica Janasiewicz, the senior consultant at Mixon & Associates as they cover how the bills passed will impact schools, districts and administrators.

Speakers:

Juhan Mixon, Ed.D. Juhan received his B.A. in Political Science and Economics at UF as well as his doctorate with emphasis in public finance.  Dr. Mixon has previously held positions as a principal, Assistant Superintendent of Schools in Pinellas County and Deputy Commissioner of Education for the State of Florida. After leaving the DOE he worked at a law firm as a consultant for governmental affairs.  In July of 1991 Juhan opened Mixon and Associates which today has a staff of nine and represents ten school districts as well as numerous corporations.  Mixon is responsible for all facets of M&A and prides himself for having access to virtually every department and agency in government and the Legislature.

Jessica Janasiewicz. Jessica is an alumni of FSU with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.  For six years she taught as a 4th grade teacher in Atlanta while earning her M.Ed. in Literacy acquiring the skills needed to help students build their literacy skills.  These experiences created a desire to improve the experiences of traditionally underserved populations and also illustrated the important role policy plays in the education of young people.  To be better prepared to reach these goals she earned her M.A. in Politics and Education at Teachers College, Columbia University.  Upon returning to Florida Jessica joined Mixon & Associates where she has lobbied extensively for the various school districts the firm represents throughout the state including FASA, FADIMA and FHSAA.
