PAWS' Summit for the Elephants, 2012

ARK 2000 SANCTUARY*

Optional excursion to PAWS' ARK 2000 sanctuary in San Andreas, CA.

9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

$75 per person; includes transportation to and from San Andreas, and a sack lunch.

Join PAWS directors, Pat Derby and Ed Stewart, for an intimate, behind-the-scene tour of the first captive elephant sanctuary in the United States.

ARK 2000 shuttles will be available at two locations — Oakland Zoo and the Hilton Hotel-Oakland Airport. When you register, please indicate at which location you will be boarding the shuttle. Check-in will begin promptly at 8:45 a.m. Space is limited.

*The ARK 2000 optional excursion is open to conference attendees/speakers ONLY!

PAWS looks forward to welcoming you to Summit for the Elephants, 2012, at the Oakland Zoo. In order to make your travel experience a pleasant and carefree one, we have selected the Hilton-Oakland Airport for lodging. The rates are very reasonable for the Bay Area, and they have worked with us to put together many exclusives for PAWS conference attendees. And best of all, you will not need a car!

The Hilton-Oakland Airport features several dining options, a sports bar, game room, business center, fitness room/gym, heated pool and room service. And. . . they’re pet friendly!

$114.00 per night single/double occupancy, includes breakfast for 1 or 2 guests (plus applicable taxes)

$124.00 for 3 guests per room; $134.00 for 4 guests per room (plus applicable taxes) — prices do not include additional breakfasts. Additional breakfasts may be purchased separately.

Complimentary Hilton-Oakland Airport shuttle service eliminates the need for a rental car!

Oakland Zoo: Complimentary private shuttles to and from the Oakland Zoo conference location will be available Wednesday through Friday for conference attendees registered at the Hilton-Oakland Airport.

Oakland Airport Arrival: Complimentary shuttles are available from the Oakland Airport to the Hilton-Oakland Airport. Call 510-635-5000 upon arrival. You will be asked what airline you have arrived on and the driver will then let you know where to wait for the shuttle and when you can expect it to arrive.

Oakland Airport Departure: Complimentary shuttles to the Oakland Airport from the hotel run every 30 minutes, 24 hours a day. No reservation is needed. Shuttle stops are located outside the lobby door.

Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) — Oakland Coliseum station: Complimentary hotel shuttle service is available to and from the “Oakland Coliseum” BART station location. Call 510-635-5000 to schedule.

San Francisco Airport Arrival/Departure: There is no complimentary shuttle from the San Francisco Airport to the hotel. Hilton-Oakland Airport guests arriving at the San Francisco airport can take a BART train to the “Oakland Coliseum” BART station. Once you have arrived at the “Oakland Coliseum” BART station, call 510-635-5000 to schedule complimentary shuttle service to the hotel. The cost for the BART train ride between the San Francisco Airport and the “Oakland Coliseum” BART station is approximately $8.80 each direction.

For hotel guests with cars, we have secured a discounted rate of $6.00 per day for parking. 

IF YOU WILL BE DRIVING TO THE OAKLAND ZOO: When you arrive at the Oakland Zoo, pull into the entrance and drive past the parking Kiosk. No one will be there in the morning when you arrive. Take the first left into the LOWER parking lot towards Maddie's Center for Science and Education/Lower Entrance. Drive through the parking lot and up a slight hill to park in front of Maddie's Center (two-story building with solar panels on the roof). The Zimmer Auditorium is on the first floor.
