About our instructors
Mary Mellem, EA is a Tax Professional from Green Bay WI who has been in the tax business for 35 years. She and her husband David operate Ashwaubenon Tax Professionals. In addition to servicing 1,300 tax and accounting clients during the year, their business includes tax consulting for other tax professionals as well as teaching tax seminars around the country.
The year 2019 will be Mary’s 28th year of teaching tax programs throughout the country. Prior to working full-time at Ashwaubenon Tax Professionals, Mary was a member of the staff of the National Association of Tax Professionals for 13½ years. While on staff she was involved in writing and teaching seminars throughout the country in all aspects of the tax field from individual issues to entity issues. Her experience with NATP also included service as part of the research department.
Mary received a Bachelors Degree in Secondary Education from the University of Wisconsin in the field of Mathematics and Economics.
In 1990 she earned the Enrolled Agent designation. She is a member of NATP and NAEA and an NTPI Fellow. Mary has written the Client Newsletters for the NAEA Journal, served on the Public Relations Committee, and a member and chairmen of the NAEA Education Foundation. Mary has been guest on the Larry Meiller Show on Wisconsin Public Radio several times during the past 3 tax season to answer call in questions from the listening audience.
Donald W. Jump, EA is a retired firefighter with a keen interest in accounting and tax law. He began preparing taxes in 1986, became an enrolled agent in 1989 and has specialized in church and clergy tax law. He has been associated with Stroh, Johnson & Co. LLP, CPAs in Wapakoneta, OH since 1986. He has conducted several seminars on church and clergy tax law as well as serving as a consultant to churches and pastors. More recently, he has developed an interest in assisting tax professionals develop a better understanding of the ethical standards in which we are expected to practice.
Don has committed himself to promoting the Enrolled Agent profession. He was instrumental in starting the Greater Dayton Chapter of Enrolled Agents of which he is a member. He served as president of OSEA (Ohio Society of Enrolled Agents) from 19982000. During his tenure as President, he led OSEA members to join NAEA and its Ohio affiliate (OSSEA).
Don has served as President of OSSEA (Ohio State Society of Enrolled Agents) 2004-06. He served on the NAEA Nominating Committee in 2006.
Don and wife Nancy have been married for forty two years and have 2 daughters.
Don enjoys traveling, hiking, photography & music.
Kevin C. Huston, EA, USTCP, MBA, ChFC, CLU is a nationally known tax instructor and President of the Asheville, North Carolina tax preparation and tax problem resolution firm Blue Ridge Tax Advisors, Inc. Huston earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Management from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, and his Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in International Business from Georgia State University in Atlanta.
Huston has also earned the financial planning designations Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) from The American College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. Huston is an Enrolled Agent (EA); a Graduate Fellow of the National Tax Practice Institute (NTPI) of the National Association of Enrolled Agents; and a United States Tax Court Practitioner (USTCP). A USTCP is a non-attorney admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court. In 2017, he received the Excellence In Education award from the National Association of Enrolled Agents.
