JASA 10/11/17 Japanese Garden Tour and Tea Ceremony demonstration at Kykuit, Pocantico Hills
Wednesday, October 11, 2017 - 9:25am
2017 GARDEN TOUR AND TEA CEREMONY DEMONSTRATION
A visit to the Japanese Garden at Kykuit, Pocantico Hills.
Full day excursion.
Please join us for JASA's outing to Pocantico with Curator and JASA Board Member, Cynthia Altman, where we will enjoy the brilliant hues of the maples and a tea ceremony in the Shoin-style structure designed by Yoshimura Junzo. Tea Master Yoshihiro Terazono from Urasenke will join us once again to demonstrate the details and describe the history of this tradition. JASA Members Tomoko Urabe and Greg Succop will assist.
A bento lunch will follow (included in the tour fee).
Please note that the paths are irregular stepping stones and the two acre garden can be difficult to navigate; the step to enter the teahouse is quite high.
If it rains, we will postpone to another date.
Reservations are required. Space is limited to 14.
Tour Fee: $45 per person. Train fare is additional.
Registration is first come first served. Priority will be given to those who have not participated in JASA's trips to Kykuit in the past.
If you would like to attend, please register by clicking the Register Now button below and fill out the registration form.
