Speaker Topic: Artificial Intelligence
February 15th, 2018
Program Description
The fast moving change environment we live in has presented many challenges to our population - from how we manage job and industry losses to how we educate our work force to survive in the changed environment and how we plan our business strategy to succeed in the new world we have created. This series will address three areas of technology emerging in Silicon Valley and related Silicon geographies: the Internet of Things (IOT), Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Session Three: Thursday, February 15th, 2018, 5 - 8 pm on Machine Learning at ITU
Keynote Speaker Tony Nguyen, AI Expert at CISCO Systems and expert panelists. Panel members include: Dan Esbensen, CTO TotalSynch LLC and Axel Kloth, CEO of Scalable Systems Resesrch Lab and moderated by Indra Desai. Register below.
Keynote Speaker: Tony Nguyen
Tony Nguyen is a computer software professional with over 30 years of experiences and is a software lead engineer/designer at Cisco Systems since 1998. Tony Nguyen has been teaching for 20 years at De Anza College (Cupertino) and is an adjunct faculty at ITU.
Tony is also a principal engineer at a stealth-mode early stage startup business that utilizes artificial intelligence to optimize business operations for large corporations.
Tony is a graduate of Santa Clara University with a Master of Science degree in Computer Engineering. He also completed master-level certificates in Information Security and Project Management at the Villanova University. Tony was awarded the U.S. Patent number 6546420 titled "Aggregating information about network message flows" for his innovative work with colleagues at Cisco Systems in 2003. Tony Nguyen's work and research interests include: cloud system security, artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data analytics.
In this event, we will try to tie these technologies together with a session on Artificial Intelligence - the broader concept of machines being able to carry out tasks in a way that we would consider “smart”. With the current deeper understanding of how the human brain functions and the transference of that model to "machines", we are building smarter and smarter machines. We can now depend on them to help us in medical diagnosis and weather predictions. But we worry about machines becoming too smart - and we have seen the impacts on jobs and job skill requirements.
Session Three: Artificial Intelligence - Putting It All Together, February 15, 2018, 5 to 8 pm at ITU
Each of these events will be addressing quality challenges in these technology areas and will consist of a Keynote speaker, an expert panel, and a social get together.
