The Junior Achievement Young Entrepreneur Marketplace is the ultimate buy local experience! This one day outdoor event provides the opportunity for young entrepreneurs to gain experience operating a business. The young business owners display and sell their unique products to the local community. All products are handmade and personally sold by the owners. You will find beaded jewelry, greeting cards, bath products, home baked goodies, artwork, clothing, and more!
Who can participate? The marketplace is open to entrepreneurs up to 21 years old and college students.
Where will the marketplace be set up? The event will be an outdoor marketplace as part of the YLNI Farmers Market located at 302 E. Berry St. Fort Wayne, IN 46802 with tents, tables, chairs provided by Junior Achievement.
How it works?
Young entrepreneurs should be responsible for set up, customer interaction and sales. We encourage parents of younger entrepreneurs to allow the children to do as much as possible on their own. Parents and younger siblings may sit in the booth, but should not participate in selling or promoting the child’s product/service.
Can my child sell food, services or used items? Anything can be sold, however used items are not allowed.
My kids are selling food. Do they need a Food Handlers Permit? No, children do not require any kind of license or permit to sell, but you must inform Junior Achievement of the food items/products that will be sold in the booth.
Is electricity provided? Electrical hook ups are limited, so early registration is recommended.
Can I play music at my booth? Yes, as long as the volume is low and the lyrics are respectful.
Do we have to supply our own tables and tents? No, Junior Achievement will provide those for you.
What will each business will be provided per registration?
What are young entrepreneurs required to bring:
Can we decorate our table and tent?
Absolutely! We encourage students to decorate and set up their area to represent their products and services.
Can I sell out of a trailer?
We do not allow trailers/carts.
Can I bring a generator?
We do not allow generators due to the noise level they produce.
