Finance and Funding - Get Your Operation on Solid Financial Footing


Do you feel like you and your financial team speak different languages?

This workshop focuses on the basics of accounting and financial analysis for a start-up or existing small business. You will get an overview of Profit & Loss Statements and Balance Sheets and the analysis and preparation of each.

What you will learn: 
  • Key financial terms such as: Revenue, Cost of Goods Sold, Gross Margin, General, Sales, and Administrative Expenses, Net Income Before Tax, Net Income After Tax. 

  • The pros and cons of each type of business structure (Sole Proprietorship, Partnership, LLC, Sub S, C Corp), registration of each with State and Federal authorities, and the accounting and tax requirements of each.

  • What can be classified as a valid business expense and how to account for income and expense items.

  • How to fund your business and  available sources of funding. Workshop will include group participation.

 

This workshop is a MUST for anyone owning or planning to open a business or nonprofit and will include group participation!

Jim Lavorato currently manages a company associated with the motion picture industry. His past experience includes senior executive postions at a money-center bank, high-tech firm, and consumer products manufacturer. He is also a contributing editor for "ScreenTrade" magazine and authors a blog on the cinema, "Cinema Mucho Gusto."
