Communication & Conflict Resolution Skills: (Module I)20 hrs.

This is the first module in our 40 hour Basic Mediation course. Module I covers communication and conflict resolution skills. It is being offered for those who wish to improve their communication skills but who may or may not wish to become mediators at this time.  CLE: 15substantive 

Course is a prerequisite for  Module II: Mediation Skills.

Mediation Skills 1: (Module II) 20 hrs                 

Covers the concepts and skills used in the facilitative, problem-solving model of mediation. The training incorporates the national Model Standards of Conduct for Mediators. It is an interactive, practice-based training that uses lecture, skill-building exercises, and role playing simulations. The training prepares mediators for the complete process of mediation: setting up the mediation site, all phases of the session with disputants, post-session debriefing, and planning for subsequent sessions. Thorough and well-developed training materials are provided to all trainees. CLE: 14 substantive, 1 Ethics
