SATURDAY/AM Sessions (choose one at checkout)[1A] "Good Vibrations, Sweet Sensations: Addressing Trauma Through Play-Based Sensory Interventions"
Presenter: Joseph De Luna, Psy.D., RPT Workshop Description This workshop will explain the ways that trauma experiences are organized in the brain and how therapeutic interventions should address the key areas that are impacted. Sensory play therapy strategies to help a child heal from trauma will also be discussed.
[1B] “Adlerian Family Play Therapy: An Integrative Approach to Working with Children and Families"
Presenter: Szu-Yu Chen, Ph.D., LPC, NCC, RPT Workshop Description
Adlerian family play therapy is a unique approach to help families improve various socioemotional or behavioral concerns. This workshop will present the rationale, principles, and techniques for integrating Adlerian play therapy with family counseling. Case examples and clinical applications will be discussed to illustrate the practice of Adlerian family play therapy with diverse families.

Play Therapy techniques can be used to facilitate the supervisory process, from goal setting, to counter-transference as well as to formulate case conceptualization. Additionally, these techniques easily translate into direct practice work with clients. This workshop will be highly experiential in nature.
[2B] "Unbreakable Bond: Using Play Therapy to Increase Positive Attachment with Children and Youth."
Presenter: Aseye Allah, LCSW, RPT-S
Workshop DescriptionThis workshop will focus on the caregiver/child dyad and the importance of attachment on a child’s emotional, social, mental, and physical well being. Play therapy will be used throughout the training and show how critical the first relationship is to future functioning.

Presenter: Karen Pernet, LCSW Workshop Description In this highly experiential workshop, play therapy supervisors delve into the intersection of diversity and supervision through the creation of individual sandtrays to examine their own culture and reflective sandtrays to work with diversity issues presented by supervisees. Participants should bring several items reflecting their culture.
[3B] “Play Therapy Interventions for Children with Chronic Health Conditions."
Presenter: Elisabeth E. Liles, Ph.D., and Hae “Brian” ChoiWorkshop Description
There are fundamental principles of play therapy that apply regardless of theory, age, and presenting problem. However, when working with children with chronic illness, flexibility in therapy approaches is crucial. This presentation will provide therapists with the information and tools needed to successfully implement play therapy in a manner that effectively meets the socioemotional needs of children with chronic illness.
SUNDAY/PM Sessions (choose one at checkout)[4A] “Cat, Cow, Dog: Integrating Yoga in Play Therapy for Children with Trauma."Presenter: Kristen Hurvitz LCSW, RPT-SWorkshop Description
This workshop provides an overview of trauma informed yoga and somatic approaches where
participants will learn how to integrate these interventions into play therapy sessions. Focus will
be on working with children and adolescents with complex trauma based on current research in
neuroscience from leaders in the field including: Bessel van der Kolk, MD, Bruce Perry, MD,
Peter Levine, PhD, Daniel Siegel, MD, and Stephen Porges, MD.
[4B] “Responding to Tragedy and Mass-Scale Disasters with Play Therapy”
Presenter: Janine Shelby, PhD, RPT-S
Workshop Description
Large-scale traumatic events befall many children and adolescents, and play therapists are often called upon to assist survivors and indirectly exposed children. Prepare yourself to respond by learning practical tips for disclosing disastrous events to children, providing parenting interventions, offering developmentally and culturally sensitive interventions, and using play therapy coping and psychoeducation activities that correspond to Psychological First Aid modules.

Boxed lunch will be provided for each day of paid registration.
Student rate for those currently enrolled in school. Lunch Included. Proof of University enrollment may be requested.
Groups of 3 or more persons may receive $10 off the registration fees if registered online two weeks before the workshop.Registrations must be submitted together. PAYMENT MUST BE RECEIVED BY 02/20/19 OR REGISTRATION WILL BE CANCELLED
Continuing Education
This workshop meets the qualifications for 6 hours of continuing education credit per day for Psychologists, MFTs & LCSWs and LPCC's. The California Association for Play Therapy (CALAPT) is approved by the Association for Play Therapy to offer continuing education specific to play therapy (APT Approved Provider # 00-094). The California Association for Play Therapy is approved by the American Psychological Association (APA) to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Psychologists may receive 6 hours of continuing education credit for this workshop.The California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) now recognizes APA continuing education credit for license renewal for LCSWs, MFTs and LPCCs The California Association for Play Therapy maintains responsibility for this program and its contents. NO CREDIT FOR PARTIAL ATTENDANCE.
Cancellations and Refunds
Requests for refunds must be made in writing to the CALAPT, P.O. Box 12404, Newport Beach, CA 92658 or by e-mail: calapt@calplaytherapy.org. Requests must be postmarked two weeks prior to workshop date in order to receive refund. There is a $25.00 administrative fee for refunds. No refunds for cancellations after the deadline. There are no price breaks for partial attendance.
