STAFF PROFILES

Jamie McCaig - Owner ATC Goaltending

Jamie enjoyed a successful junior hockey career with the Prince George Spruce Kings (BCHL), Penticton Panthers (BCHL) and the Merritt Centennials (BCHL). After concluding his junior career, Jamie went on to play for Brandon University Bobcats (CIS) and the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns (CIS). After completing his Bachelor of Arts Degree at the University of Lethbridge, Jamie went on to play professionally for the Anchorage Aces (WCHL) and Victoria Salmon Kings (ECHL). Jamie has been instructing goaltenders for the past 20 years, while still playing he worked for the Goaltender Development Institute (GDI) for current NHL (Columbus) goalie coach Ian Clark. In the fall of 2006 after finishing his playing career, Jamie joined Dave Rathjen at ATC Goaltending where he is now a co-owner.  Jamie is currently the goalie coach for the Whitecourt Wolverines (AJHL), Alberni Valley Bulldogs (BCHL) as well as the former goalie coach of the Kootenay Ice (WHL).

Dave Rathjen - Co-Owner ATC Goaltending

Dave grew up playing AAA hockey in Penticton, B.C. before going on to a successful junior career in the WHL and BCHL. After junior, he attended the University of Alberta and played for the Golden Bears Hockey Program winning the CIS National Championship in 2005 where he graduated with his Bachelor of Physical Education Degree with a minor in sports management. After a brief stint in the UHL Dave turned his focus to coaching goaltenders full time.  Dave has been instructing goalies for the past 17 years and has gained a wealth of knowledge along his journey. Dave is currently the goalie coach for Swift Current (WHL), Univ of Alberta Golden Bears and Pandas (USport) as well as NAIT Womens Hockey Team (ACAC).

Allen York

Allen played 2 years in the AJHL for the Camrose Kodiaks where he won back to back AJHL championships and back to back Doyle Cups. Allen then went on to play 3 years for the RPI Engineers (NCAA Div 1). After leaving RPI Allen had a very successful 6 year pro career where he played in the NHL with Columbus as well as 5 seasons in the AHL/ECHL. Allen played for the 2013 Team Canada Spengler Cup as well as representing Canada as well in the 2008 World Jr A Challenge.  Allen is currently the Goalie coach/assistant Coach Northern Alberta Xtreme hockey academy (CSSHL) and the Camrose Kodiaks (AJHL)

 

Ty Rimmer

Ty joined ATC in the summer of 2019 and has been with us full time since then.  Ty started his goalie coaching career after a very successful playing career starring in the WHL and playing 6 season professionally in AHL, ECHL and in Europe!  Ty is currently the goalie coach for the Leduc Midget AAA Team (AMHL) as well as the CAC Bantam AAA (AMBHL) team.

Rhys Hadfield 

Rhys has been working with ATC since 2010 and before that he was a student with ATC from first-year midget till he finished his Jr career. Rhys played Jr A hockey in Grande Prairie (AJHL), Nanaimo (BCHL) and St Albert (AJHL) and just finished his education degree at Concordia Univ where he played 4 years for the Concordia Thunder (ACAC). Rhys has a passion for the technical side of playing goal and is always on the cutting edge of new technical advancements within the position.

    Camp Overview

This camp is a 2 day introduction to playing goal.  

 Camp Highlights

2:1 Ratio (MAX 12 goalies in the group)

1.25 hrs on ice each day

20 mins on ice each day dedicated to goalie specific skating/movement

55 mins on ice each day dedicated to learning the basics of how to stop pucks

Off ice Sessions will include

Hand Eye Co Ordination Drills

There is no lunch provided (please bring your own snacks)

Full goalie equipment is required for all on ice sessions

*If you need equipment contact your local MHA as they have full sets of goalie equipmentavailable for rent so that goalies can try out the position*
