About Brian

Loving husband and dad. Devoted son and brother. Dedicated friend and officer. There are so many ways to describe Brian, but not enough words to express the impact he made in the 45 years he spent with us.

Born in the Bronx and raised in Bergenfield, he began his career with New York’s Finest in 1991. In 1994, Brian came back to Bergen County to protect and serve the residents of New Milford. For the next 22 years, he would answer the call no matter what the job required. From patrolman and a School Resource Officer to supervising one of the best detective bureaus iNew Jersey, Brian’s courage, tenacity and dedication were always on display.

While a distinguished career of service illustrated Brian’s commitment to the community, it was his selflessness and caring nature towards friends and family that defined the man. That’s because Brian made time. To be at games and events. To enjoy a day on the lake. To be there for Gina and the kids at every turn. To spend just a few minutes with Brian Long was to know that it was family first no matter what. And that’s more than just time well spent. That’s a life well lived.

Brian Long Memorial Foundation, Inc.

A registered 501(c) (3) organization, the Brian Long Fund has been established to do more than honor and preserve the memory of a very special man. It will also relieve some of the financial burden and provide Gina with additional resources she will need to provide Jack, Ryan, and Meghan the future both she and Brian had hoped for. Contributions are tax deductible and 100% of the proceeds from this golf outing will go to the fund.
