2019 March of Remembrance at Texas A&M University

The http://www.marchofremembrancehouston.org is a memorial walk taken every Holocaust Remembrance Day as a clear sign against anti-Semitism, to “remember, reconcile and take a stand”.

What It Is:

HONOR: We honor the Holocaust survivors and let their voices be heard and their stories told. Many deny the Holocaust even happened or claim the reports were exaggerated even in the face of overwhelming Holocaust documentation by the Nazis themselves.  This is occurring not only in countries where there is a political agenda to do so, but in the U.S. as well.

EDUCATE: The purpose of the march is to educate a generation that is often unaware of the reality of the horrors of the Holocaust – ignorant not only of the facts of what happened during that time, but also of the attitudes and incendiary propaganda that preceded it.  Those attitudes and propaganda conditioned a nation of people to stand by and be silent while the atrocities were being committed.

REMEMBER: We remember, not only those who were lost in the Holocaust, but also those who fought for freedom: the rescuers who risked their lives and hid Jews underground; the soldiers who fought and sacrificed in World War II; and the leaders who spoke out.

ENGAGE: The march is a time of active learning.  Participants hear the first-hand experiences of those who lived through the horrors.  It is not merely reading a story in a book; it is understanding the reality of what happened.  The march engages people and invites them to take action by marching.  In the ongoing dynamic between a person’s thoughts, attitudes, and actions, marching against modern-day anti-Semitism is a strong statement that has impact on entire communities.

What it is not:

I understand that The March of Remembrance is not a political rally, protest, or a proselytizing or a publicity effort.   I am also aware that carrying banners deemed as aggressive or displaying signs or clothing outside the spirit of this statement or The March of Remembrance shall not be allowed. Those who do so will not participate.

Photo/Video Release Statement:  I hereby give March of Remembrance, without compensation or consideration, permission to use photos, video and/or audio tape that may be taken or recorded while attending a March of Remembrance Event for promotional, education, or fundraising activities in perpetuity. I waive any right that I may have to inspect or approve of the finished product or the use to which it may be applied. I have read the above statement and agree to comply:
