Event Overview

Are you interested in learning and teaching the skill-sets surrounding social entrepreneurship, social innovation, and social change?

Whether you are an educator inspiring the next generation with the skills they need to succeed, an entrepreneurial thinker actively creating change, or a student changemaker, we want to help you do what you do, better.

The Summit for Transformative Education will be an opportunity for you to do two things:

1) Learn to implement and teach the Transformative Action Institute's award-winning social innovation curriculum.

2) Collaborate with leaders in the field to build a better model for social change education.

Over the past 10 years, the Transformative Action Institute (TAI) has taught “the science of making the world a better place”, training the next generation of visionaries, innovators, and problems-solvers at more than 40 universities from Princeton and Yale to Berkeley and UCLA.  It has also served as a foundation for many of the leading incubators for training young people in social entrepreneurship, such as the Unreasonable Institute, StartingBloc, and Leadership exCHANGE. Moreover, it has been adopted worldwide in universities and social enterprises from Asia to Africa, and has been used at many of Ashoka's Changemaker Campuses, reaching thousands.

We don’t pretend to have all the answers - far from it - but the impact we have made speaks for itself.  If you strive to educate people who set out to change our world, we want to help you do what you do better.

What People Are Saying

"Scott Sherman (Transformative Action Institute's Director) is one of the best educators on earth. What he has created is a curriculum designed to effectively bring out the creative potential in all those lucky enough to take part in his courses. On a personal level, Scott helped build the Unreasonable Institute, changed my life, and and has forever since been cornerstone to our work at Unreasonable."

- Daniel Epstein, Co-founder of the Unreasonable InstituteCEO of Unreasonable Group, Forbes Top 30 Impact Entrepreneurs, Inc. Mag Top 30 under 30

"If every youth across the world had the opportunity to go through Transformative Action our world would be a very different place.  It is by far the best model I know of to develop the skills of personal and social change: empathy, creativity, resilience, grit, leadership, and entrepreneurship.

The principles of Transformative Action have been foundational to Educate!'s curriculum in Uganda which currently reaches 25,000 youth across the country and Watson University, a new model of higher education in the US."

- Eric Glustrom, Founder of Watson University and Educate!, Ashoka and Echoing Green Fellow, Forbes Top 30 Social Entrepreneurs under 30

"We at the Good Life Organization have been in the work of transforming the self and society for over 15 years using popular culture, and have never experienced anything as powerful as the Transformative Education Summit. Not only were we exposed to cutting edge scientific research to equip us in our work, but were also able to meet change agents around the world that were willing to lock arms with us moving forward.

The Transformative Education Summit is the single best experience I could recommend for any educator, social entrepreneur, or concerned citizens serious about transformation on both individual and institutional levels."

Roberto Rivera, President of The Good Life Organization, recently named one of the “Top Young Change Agents in America” by the Search for Common Ground Coalition

Our Impact

  • We have reached thousands of students at more than 40 universities across the world. Campuses include Cornell, Colorado, Tulane, USD, and many others.
  • In an independent survey conducted by the University of California, more than 95 percent of participants in our classes reported that these classes and seminars had “changed their lives.”
  • More than 90 percent reported that they now planned to devote their lives to social innovation and embark upon careers in the field of entrepreneurial social change

In real life, Kevin has a healthy addiction to smiling, traveling, and comedy. On paper, he has spoken at TEDx, worked with social entrepreneurs from around the globe at the Unreasonable Institute and HUB Raleigh, traveled Central America with a backpack, and sold encyc

Shan Gupta: Director of Educational Programs

An instigator and innovator for social good, Shan is focused on unlocking the latent potential of individuals, teams, and systems.  Shan is TAI's Director of Educational Programs, spreading TAI’s award-winning curriculum to dozens of top universities and NGOs around the world.

Shan has also worked as a trainer and consultant to help revamp projects and programs of organizations from fields such as environmental sustainability, college access, and social impact funding. When not devising new ideas for solving society's greatest challenges, Shan cherishes life with family and friends. Singing and dancing is typically standard.
