 Hillcrest Villas

Hillcrest Villas is a unique 60 unit affordable housing complex. Developed through a mixture of funding provided by the City of Thousand Oaks, the State of California, the County of Ventura, U.S. Bank, and others, Hillcrest Villas will provide quality affordable housing for those in our community most in need: individuals and families who are extremely low-income, who have a disability, and/or who were homeless.  That is, those who need and deserve our support.  All units are income and rent restricted, with 30 of the units being restricted to individuals and families who have been homeless and 15 of those units being restricted to individuals and families were homeless and who have a disability.

Hillcrest Villas is beautiful.  The architectural firm Lauterbach & Associates designed the project.  The property has five residential buildings and a separate community building, all in an Italian Villa style, with a mixture of 1, 2, and 3 bedroom units. Several of the 2 bedroom units are town-house style.  The property incorporates the latest 'green' building technology.  The subterranean garage will accommodate one-half of the parking.   The overall project cost is $26 million.

There will be extensive residential services programs at Hillcrest Villas (see below).  Such programs include the Homework Tutoring Club (an afterschool tutoring program), Camp Many Mansions (a summer camp program), Case Management and Job Development (services for our formerly homeless and disabled residents).  All programs are free of charge to the residents.

Many Mansions is the developer, Dreyfuss Construction is the general contractor, and S.L. Leonard & Associates and Many Mansions are the construction managers. Many subcontractors, professionals, consultants, and others have significantly contributed to this project.

Hillcrest Villas Capital Campaign

We have embarked upon a $250,000 Capital Campaign. The monies raised will provide funding for (1) additional property enhancements (e.g. gardens, furniture for the Community Building, computers, etc.), (2) residential service programs, and (3) additional resident needs (e.g. refrigerators, furniture, supplies).

Indeed, the residential service programs will cost almost $90,000 a year.  Dedicated staff and community volunteers will run programs throughout the year.  As of now, we have no dedicated source of funding for these programs.

Please consider a donation.  We are offering a variety of ‘naming’ opportunities throughout the complex (naming of a room, a building, a bench, etc.).  We are also selling bricks that will place near our Community Building for just a donation of $100.

Please contact Bambi Hosaka (bambi@manymansions.org) for more information.

Many Mansions

Many Mansions is a nonprofit affordable housing and service provider.  Its mission is to develop affordable housing in Ventura County and the surrounding communities of the Conejo Valley.  Hillcrest Villas is Many Mansions' 13th affordable housing property and 500th unit of dedicated affordable rental housing.

Many Mansions, however, provides more than housing.  We seek to provide 'life enriching services' for our residents.  This includes programs for our adult and children population.  As mentioned above for Hillcrest Villas, Many Mansions provides a variety of children's programs at its family housing aimed at breaking the 'cycle of poverty' through education and enrichment.  This includes its Homework Tutoring Club, Camp Many Mansions, School Supplies/Backpacks, and a variety of STEM and enrichment programs.  For the adults, Many Mansions is the County's leading provider of permanent supportive housing for persons who are homeless and have a disability.  Programs include case management, job development, budgeting, parenting skills, and socialization.

Although much of the funding for the development projects such as Hillcrest Villas comes from a variety of governmental sources, most of the funding for Many Mansions' service programs comes from you-- donations, grants, and special events, including the annual Bowls of Hope event.

How You Can Get Involved

Many Mansions is a community based organization dedicated to serving the community.  We need your help.

We give in-person presentations about Many Mansions and tours of our affordable housing properties and programs.   Consider hosting a ‘Bowl Painting Party’ at your organization or group.   This fun activity furnishes painted bowls for the Bowls of Hope.  We provide all the bowls and supplies. If you would like more information, please contact Bambi Hosaka (bambi@manymansions.org) for more information.

We need volunteers! Volunteers work in our service programs, on our events, and in our offices.  Community volunteers also perform service projects to enhance our properties.  Please contact Karen Guetschoff (Karen@manymansions.org) for more information.

If you are interested in being placed upon our waiting list for Many Mansions’ housing, please contact our Housing Central Office (805-497-0344) for more information.

Please be sure to follow us on our Facebook page and our website.

Thank you for all your support!
