Indianapolis Chapter CSI January 2015 Meeting: 

The New 2014 Indiana Building Code

 

The Indianapolis Chapter of CSI is having its January Chapter Meeting at the Willows on Westfield on Thursday, January 15, from 5:30pm-8:30pm
 
This presentation will be a follow up to the afternoon education seminar on the Indiana Building Code.
Learning objectives:
  • Become more familiar with the changes associated with the adoption of the 2012 International Buiding Code for the 2014 IN Building Code.
  • Review several of the relevant state amendments for the adopted 2012 International Building Code.
  • Review and identify changes with the health, safety and welfadre aspects of the new codes.
 

About the Presenter:

Scott Perez, CSI, AIA, NCARB, CCS, CCCA, LEED AP, MBA, CPE, CBO created Arxtheon consulting, Inc. after serving as the State Building Comissioner for the State of Indiana for two years. Scott is a registered architect in Indiana and Ohio. He has managed projects in excess of $42 million for clients in various arenas including K-12 education, industrial, medical, sports, hikgher eeducation, multi-family residential, retail, office, and specialty projects, for such clients as Simon, Lilly, Rolls-Royce, Community Hospital, etc. 

While at the state, he was responsible for the management of four divisions with over 140 staff members including Building Plan Review,Building & Fire Code Enforcement, Elevators and Amusement rides, and Builders & Pressure Vessels. Under his tenure, the Indiana Building Emergency Assessment & Monitoring (I-BEAM) Team was formed, combining building inspectors, contracctors and design professionals to respond to natural disasters that might occur in the State of Indiana, or elsewhere in the United States. Scott further obtained the ICC Certifications as a plans examiner and building official, and is also a Certified Trainer by FEMA in Hardening Buildings against terrorist attacks. Additionally, in April 2014, he obtained his California Structural Assessment Program (Cal-SAP) Trainer Certification. This allows Scott to train volunteers toobtain their nationally recognized Disaster Service Worker certification. 

Scott is a long-time resident of Indianapolis and obtained his Bachelors of Science in Architecture and Masters of Architecture degrees from the University of Ilinois in Urbana-Champaign,as well as spent a year living abroad in Versailles, France. He also completed his MBA at Butler University with an emphasis in leadership and marketing in 2001.
