Chesapeake Men's Gathering

September 15, 16 and 17, 2017

Prince William Forest Park,

Triangle VA

This fall our Gathering will be held in Prince William Forest Park's Camp Happyland (Group Camp 5).

The Prince William Forest Park was a part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's nationwide effort aimed at fighting the ravages of the Great Depression. Starting in 1935, the parks were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). They milled timber for buildings and crushed stone for roadways. By 1941, they had built bridges, dams, roads and lakes.  But they were most proud of the beautiful camps they built like the one we will be using for our Gathering. The cabins were built in a distinctive rustic style with hand made shingles, rough hewn siding, exposed beams and stone fireplaces - all meant to inspire a pioneer spirit. The park is currently maintained and operated by the National Park Service, U. S. Dept. of the Interior.

The Chesapeake Men's Gethering
