When it comes to donors, our sector has a terrible
track record for maintaining relationships. It’s pretty bad. Soon, Hollywood
will start laughing at us. What can we do about it? For starters, let’s stop
being jerks! Need to raise more money? Do you love’em and leave’em? This
session will give you inexpensive and easy-to-implement stewardship ideas. Do
you send everyone the thank you letter written by your Executive Director in
1987? Get some practical tips on writing to real human beings!

At the end of this session, participants will:

ˇ Learn how to transform your solicitations into love letters to
your donors

ˇ Learn how to protect your charity’s investment in donor
acquisition by loving your way to higher retention rates

ˇ Learn how a loving, long-term relationship will make your donors
even more desirable (hint: they become monthly and bequest donors)

A consultant with deep experience in direct marketing

Services, Big Brothers Big Sisters Saskatoon, Ukrainian Canadian Congress and
the Sunshine Foundation of Canada and Rouge Valley Health System.

both strategy and creative for clients including Canadian Red Cross, the UN
Refugee Agency-UNHCR and the Canadian Cancer Society.

He spent over 5 years in the University of Alberta’s
Annual Giving Office where he increased revenues to more than $6million per
year and led efforts to generate gifts from close to 90,000 donors.

Earlier, David cut his fundraising teeth at the MS
Society of Canada where he developed a passion for carefully executed and
highly profitable special events.

Before joining the professional fundraising world,
David honed his marketing, media and public relations instincts as the
proprietor of an art gallery/event space/café in Edmonton

David has been actively involved with professional
organizations throughout his career including AFP, CASE and CCAE. He has
presented at fundraising conferences, workshops and seminars across Canada. As
