Join us at The MCBA Second Annual Legalpalooza

The MCBA CLE Legalpalooza is an all day CLE program that includes 11 separate CLE courses, running in four tracks from 9:00 AM until 3:45 PM.  Each Seminar will be 75 minutes long and will carry 1.5 credits.  You can earn 6 credits for the day, and 4.5 those credits can be in ethics, if you choose.  The day will begin at 8:00 AM with registration, continental breakfast and a State of the Judiciary address from The Hon. Stuart Minkowitz, A.J.S.C., Morris/Sussex Vicinage.  We will break for lunch at 12:00 PM and we will end with a well deserved Happy Hour.  Seminar Topics will include Battleground New Jersey, a discussion of the maneuverings and power struggles between Arthur Vanderbilt, Chief Justice of the NJ Supreme Court and Frank Hague, Jercity Mayor and Boss by author and Jurist, the Hon. Nelson Johnson, J.S.C., Ethics For The Family Lawyer, Ethics and the Random Audit; Direct Examination and Cross Examination of Civil Experts; Family Law Hot Tips, Civil Law Hot Tips, Criminal Law Hot Tips and Ethics and Professionalism as they relate to Social Media.  Jack Lynch, Esq., will be running a special interactive seminar on Settlement Techniques in Practice and we will finish the day together with a segment on Ethics Bluppers. . . just to name a few.  Each of the seminars will be taught by a panel of experts on their subject and led by our own local gurus.

The settlements segment of this year’s Legalpalooza is in the format of a teaching tournament. That is, the session is part teaching, part competition.

Because of aspects of this format, those of you wishing to participate in the settlement segment must register and provide your email address by noon on Monday, November 9.  This will permit us to distribute instructional material in a series of five daily emails starting Monday afternoon.  The material in those emails will serve as the basis for discussion during on the settlement-teaching segment of Legalpalooza on Saturday afternoon.

Participants will be asked to settle two cases. One case’s settlement efforts will start as soon as you arrive (and so participants selecting to participate are encouraged to arrive to the breakfast session early).  The second case settlement process will start at the lunch break and continue through the settlement classroom session.  If nothing else, these two settlement problems should provide a good way to meet other members of our Bar.  At the end of the day the Legalpalooza Champion Negotiator of 2015 will be awarded a almost-tacky trophy and be exalted by all.
