Virtual Lunch & Learn 2020

Mystagogy

Sacramental Mysteries and Our Ministries

A rich part of our inheritance from the early church is the process of preparing adults for Holy Baptism called the Catechumenate. Ideally, in the Episcopal Church, a series of meetings of the candidates with sponsors over time culminates in a more structured six weeks of preparation prior to the Easter Vigil. But what happens after that first Baptism and participation in the Eucharist? In the Episcopal Church today “the new Christians continue to meet regularly to reflect upon the experience and meaning of Baptism and Eucharist.” (BOS 2018). This is known as “mystagogy” (teaching the mysteries). Since those of us baptized at birth or as children missed out on this, (even if we were confirmed!) Mercer is offering a short Virtual Lunch and Learn program to go deeper into the meaning of Baptism and the Eucharist.

Instructor: Canon Michael Delaney, Diocesan Liturgist.

There is no charge and registration is easy.
