This special “Jumpstart” presentation takes our four most popular Small Business Essentials workshops and puts them together in a compact, two-day format. These workshops are designed specifically for people who are launching a new “one person” business with no employees. We start with you writing a quick business plan and then learning how to make the key decisions and plans needed to successfully launch a business. These 3-hour workshops are part of the two-day presentation: 

• Creating a Quick Business Plan in Three Hours 
• Successfully Starting a Business
• Marketing: Pricing, Packaging and Promoting Your Product or Searvice to Sell More!
• Managing Finances for a New One-Person Business 

In the first workshop, you will use the “Lean Canvas” to make a quick business plan and to begin the process of turning your product or service into a business.  In this interactive session, you use the canvas to help draft a business plan by capturing your key ideas, concepts, and strategies about your business.  This creates a basic framework that you will expand through the remainder of the workshops. 

In the second half of the first day we will help you lay the foundation of your business by helping you:

• Understand the different business entities and choose the best one for your business
• Understand how to properly license your business in Washington state
• Select the correct insurance for your business
• Understand the options for financing your business.

Once you have a plan for getting your business up and running you need to make a plan to get customers.  In day two we will turn to marketing and help you price and package your product or service, find your best customers (target market) and create a promotional plan that lets you present your business in the best possible light.   We will show you how to: 

• Be able to identify customers and their needs
• Determine the correct pricing, packaging, and distribution of your product
• Create a promotional plan for your business
• Be able to get your business online
• Be able to sell your product.

Proper management of finances is crucial to any business’s success and a special set of skills is needed if you are a one-person business.   The final session is designed to give you, the business owner, the financial skills and know-how needed to perform key tasks like to:

• Determine how to accurately compute the amount of funding you’ll need to start your businessLearn how to project your future financial results realistically
• Manage your cash flow successfully
• Keep your accounting records properly
• Understand what taxes you and your business will be susceptible to pay and how to pay taxes timely

This two-day workshop is suitable for everyone whether you are starting a new business or need to update your skills.  This is highly interactive and we encourage participation by all attendees -- so bring along your questions!
