This course is designed for the busy accounting and financial professionals who needs to be able to answer those frequently asked taxed questions.  The quick hit topics presented in this course are based upon the authors frequently received tax questions and other tax curiosities.  This presentation is interactive.  Please, bring your phone, tablet, laptop or other internet connected device, to privately participate in the discussion. Objectives: • To gain an understanding of selected current tax topics. • To answer those tax questions that you always wanted to ask (and those questions you didn’t know you wanted to ask about). • Learn techniques for resolving certain tax problems that frequently occur. Designed For: CPAs, enrolled agents, accounting and finance professionals who want to learn about tax planning strategies that occur every day. Highlights: • “Pennies on the Dollar.”  Ever wonder about those TV ads where some talking head claims to be able to resolve your tax debt for pennies on the dollar?  We’ll explore what options most taxpayers have with IRS. • “Tax Deductions from Thin Air.”  As accountants and finance professionals, we want to believe that our tax laws are based on sound economic principals.  But, we’ll look at how to create a tax deduction from thin air.  (Based on a real Tax Court case.) • “The First Form 1040.”  It seems like the Form 1040 has been with us forever.  What did Form 1040 look like in its first year?  A brief look at our tax history, and how that information may influence your thinking on future tax reforms and other planning. • “Partnership Tax Audits.”  Like it or not, the tax rules for IRS examinations of partnerships are changing on January 1, 2018.  Are you prepared for this important change? • “Tax ID-Theft.”  We recently learned that identifying information for 143 million Americans was hacked from Equifax.  We’ll look at what you can do if your tax identity is compromised. • “In the Weeds.”  You say your dream is to give up that corporate finance job, and open a “weed” shop in Colorado?  Here is what the tax authorities will have waiting for you.
