Platica: Cultural Considerations for Trauma Informed Care 

This platica will touch upon trauma and how it affects the daily functioning of people within communities of color. Touch Points to be reviewed:

  1. Trauma 
  2. Collective Family systems vs Individual Family systems 
  3. Macro Systems and the impact on individual and family mental health 
  4. Acculturation & Assimilation 
  5. Providing quality care

Salvador Hernandez is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker based out of Omaha, NE.  Salvador has over 13 years of professional experience working in various capacities, including family preservation, crisis intervention/stabilization, behavioral intervention, groups, mental health case management, and individual therapy.  Salvador's areas of strength include working with Spanish speaking families, system impacted youth and families, juvenile justice involved youth, and trauma impacted youth and families. Salvador utilizes culture as a focal point towards wellbeing and educating his client’s on macro level systems and how they influence mental health/wellness.
