STARTING A NONPROFIT: A PRACTICAL GUIDE

 FEE: Online Registration $59  Walk-Ins $69

Establishing and running a successful nonprofit starts with developing a comprehensive business plan to serve as a road map for your launch and initial operations. You are faced with choices, challenges and strategies from forming your nonprofit corporation, selecting your board of directors and getting nonprofit status from the IRS ... and importantly, figuring out how to get grants and other funding to support your operations and future growth.

While each nonprofit has its individual needs, all have to understand how to market their services to donors and build a base of users. This seminar, led by experienced professionals in the nonprofit field, will help you develop a winning business plan and an effective strategy for your particular enterprise.

In this seminar you will learn:

  • What are the criteria and processes for founding a nonprofit
  • What is the role of the Board of Directors and what to consider in selecting its members
  • What are the basic regulatory requirements for an ongoing nonprofit
  • How well known and understood are the causes your nonprofit will serve and support
  • How will you identify and appeal to your potential funding sources
  • How will you market and communicate about your nonprofit

SPEAKERS:

Judith E. Katz, Corporate Executive and Nonprofit Board Member, SCORE Mentor
