Roles, Expectations, and Responsibilities of the Board Recorded Live Webinar

CSBG Organizational Standard 5.8: Governing board members have been provided with training on their duties and responsibilities within the past 2 years.

Target Audience: Board members of Community Action Agencies

Presented by: Eleanor Evans, Executive Director and General Counsel, CAPLAW; and Veronica Zhang, Staff Attorney, CAPLAW.

In this recorded webinar, we discuss the legal framework that governs a CAA tripartite board as well as explore key responsibilities of the CAA board, including its role in the implementation of the new CSBG Organizational Standards. The webinar is intended to provide a broad overview of all of the board’s responsibilities as they relate to the Organizational Standards.

Topics to be covered include rules and guidance that apply to tripartite boards, board fiduciary duties such as the duty of care and the duty of loyalty, and key responsibilities such as determining revenue strategies, engaging the community, monitoring agency performance, and ensuring ongoing compliance.

As a result of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Better understand the board’s key responsibilities to comply with the CSBG mandate that the tripartite board fully participate in the development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the CSBG program.
  • Identify organizational policies and procedures that may need to be reviewed and revised in light of the CSBG Organizational Standards.

Cost: Free to MASSCAP members, unlimited use.
