Please join us for the 9th Annual Wyoming Native American Education Conference, Aug. 7-9, 2018.

Opening ceremonies begin Aug. 8 at 8:30 a.m. at the Robert A. Peck Art Center at Central Wyoming College in Riverton. The conference then shifts to St. Stephens Indian School beginning with lunch at noon on Aug. 8, with workshops starting at 1 p.m. The conference wraps up Aug. 9 at 5 p.m.

A golf scramble will kick off activities at 2 p.m. on Aug. 7 at the Riverton Country Club.

PTSB and UW credit available.

The mission of the conference is Instill pride in youth and strengthen engagement through learning Native American history and culture.

This year's strands include:

  • Suicide prevention skills
  • Understanding of and appreciation for the history and culture of the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho tribes
  • Cultural sensitivity for educators and other adults who impact Native American students
  • Instructional and learning needs of Native American students
  • Successful transitions for Native American students between school levels
  • Empowering Native American youth to develop leadership skills and choose healthy lifestyles
  • Engage families and the community in support of education of the whole child
