Event Overview:

All CIRB members are invited to attend CIRB’s 2018 fly-in and policy conference to bring crop insurance’s voice to Capitol Hill while learning the latest from policy experts and decision makers. Conference events will include advocacy training, a federal affairs update, Congressional speakers, visits to key Capitol Hill offices, and networking opportunities.

Tuesday, April 10:

8:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m: Policy Conference

This educational program will feature a legislative update, policy speakers, and lobbying training. Speakers include:

  • 8:05 a.m. Crop Insurance and the Rural Economy -Nick Tindall, Association of Equipment Manufacturers
  • 8:30 a.m. 2018 Political Insights David Wasserman, The Cook Report
  • 9:45 a.m.- Meeting with Undersecretary Northey*

*(This will be held at the Whitten Building at USDA (1400 Jefferson Dr. SW). Please travel with your fly-in group to this meeting, and do not   forget to bring with you a government issued ID. After the meeting concludes we will return to the Phoenix Park Hotel.)

  • 10:45 a.m. Insights into the Farm Bill - Phil Brasher, Agri-Pulse
  • 11:30 a.m. CIRB on the Hill - Tara Smith, CIRB Staff

    1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.: CIRB Capitol Hill Visits

Wednesday, April 11:

9:00 a.m.- Noon: CIRB Capitol Hill Visits

12 p.m.: CIRB Members Depart

12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.: ELP Lunch and Debrief
