Census Data: Highlights in the St. Louis Area

The 2020 Census counted every person living in the United States and the five U.S. territories. The 2020 Census marked the 24th time that the country has counted its population; the first was in 1790. In addition to the Decennial, conducted every 10 years, the Census Bureau conducts surveys year-round. Currently they are conducting a survey on the impact of the pandemic, called the Pulse Survey.

The census provides critical data that lawmakers, business owners, teachers, and many others use to provide daily services, products, and support for you and your community. Every year, billions of dollars in federal funding go to hospitals, fire departments, schools, roads, and other services based on census data.

This session will take a look at the major demographic changes for the St. Louis region as well as provide an overview of the types of data that grant writers are able to pull from the government website.
