McKinney "Say YES to Youth" Summit

The Summit will bring together adults who care about youth in at-risk environments, residing in McKinney, ages 13 – 19.  Participants will include the city, schools, corporations, non-profits,religious institutions and anyone else who is concerned about youth in our community . The purpose of the Summit is to identify issues that need to be addressed, discover issues that are already being addressed and by whom, identify areas of duplication and determine opportunities for collaboration in the future.

The event will consist of a panel discussion with local authorities on teen issues,  lunch with tabletop discussions and networking, sharing of community programs and will finish with our special guest speaker, Mark Lundholm.

Mark is a a nationally known comedian who grew up with an abusive parent and struggled through his teens with addiction.  He is an advocate for at-risk teens and will entertain and inspire you.  You can preview him at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfID2rcY9dY.

Participants will be provided with a Resource Directory of services available to youth and families in McKinney.  Participants will also have the opportunity to educate others about programs, propose new programs and develop partnerships.
