Treating Addiction Across Generations

Area Agency on Aging Educational Webinar    2 CEU's

Description:

Covid-19 has put a kibosh on conducting live one-on-one sessions and group meetings with clients.  We must now rely on Zoom meetings and social media or text and phone contacts with clients who need our support to continue their road to recovery from addictions.  This webinar explores the key developmental issues that adults of various ages face when fighting addiction and how to render the needed recover support to those of all ages using a variety of communication modalities such as phone, email, text, messaging, social media and digital addiction therapies.

Objectives:

  • Discuss how addiction affects human development and notice that adults have different emotional needs at different stages of life and how to listen for and help meet developmental needs.
  • Gain options and ideas as to how to best support and educate adults in various life stages as they recover from addiction.
  • Explore the various communications modalities (email, text, messenger, social media and Zoom) and content strategies available to reach clients in the most effective and meaningful way possible, given the communication preferences of each generation.

Presenter:

Rita Rizzo, is a former nurse and social service worker who has owned a management consulting and training firm for 35 years.  Rita's Master's degree is in Training and Human Resource Management.  She travels throughout the United States training, consulting and coaching on topics related to diversity and inclusion, preventing workplace violence, leadership and team building.
