GEOPHYSICS FOR GEOTECHNICAL APPLICATIONS

webinar

Please join us for an informative discussion on Geophysics for Geotechnical Applications presented by GEL Solutions' Principal, E. Jorgen Bergstrom, P.Gp. and Director of Western NC Operations, Jeff Tallent.

Geophysical techniques are often cost-effective and safe ways to evaluate natural and artificial foundation conditions in support of geotechnical investigations. Some of the most common methods used are seismic, and ground penetrating radar (GPR); and the most common applications are bedrock mapping (depth, topography, and rippability), and subsidence investigations (loose materials, voids, and sinkholes).  Geophysical methods work very well in tandem with a boring program for imaging the subsurface between boreholes. Also, boring data is often critical for calibrating geophysical data to develop accurate subsurface models using geophysics.

This webinar will focus on case studies where various geophysical methods such as multi-channel analysis of surface waves (MASW), seismic refraction, GPR, electrical resistivity imaging (ERI) and borehole geophysics were used to support geotechnical engineering investigations. Results will be discussed and a Q&A session will be held at the end of the presentation.

1 PDH credit will be given upon completion of a brief survey after the webinar.
