Parenting the Child with Neurological Disorders
Presented by
Mike Sumler, LMFT

Parenting a child with High-Functioning Autism, Tourette Syndrome, OCD and associated disorders presents with unique challenges. Many parents find themselves frustrated with the day-to-day struggles, which can lead to even more difficulties.

The Joshua Center is offering this popular three-part workshop starting in September. Join us on three Tuesday evenings as we explore new techniques, avenues of support, and receive expert advice for raising children with neurological disorders.

  • Session 1: A New Framework: This session will focus on recognizing the specific deficits and learning how to teach specific skills to your child. You will walk away with a different framework of parenting than you were taught, guaranteed!
  • Session 2: Interventions that Work: You won't hear about charts, marbles, or stickers in this session. Interventions will be presented that are not generic, but specific to a child with neurological disorders.
  • Session 3: Handling the Pressures of Parenting: "Sometimes I just want to scream!" Ever felt this way? This workshop focuses on those feelings of frustration that overwhelm us and make it hard to parent even on a good day.

Mike Sumler, LMFT, and Kris Mitchell, LMFT, have worked exclusively with these children for years and have more than twenty years of combined experience. They have helped thousands of parents learn how to change their parenting styles and bring harmony to their homes.

Schools, physicians and organizations throughout the midwest now refer to both as the experts in the area. You don't want to miss this opportunity!

Child care is available for $5.00 per child.
