Join Ne-Yo and friends for an Independence Day Celebration at Fort Hamilton in support and dedication of our Service Members and their Families!

Three-time Grammy Award winning Def Jam recording artist Ne-Yo, will perform a concert hosted by Big Marv of A&E Network's reality show Hammertime at Fort Hamilton, N.Y., July 2nd at 4 p.m. to honor the brave men and women serving in the U.S. Military. For the second consecutive year, Fort Hamilton's Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation (www.hamiltonmwr.com ), Lerer Media (www.lerermedia.com) and The Source Magazine (www.thesource.com) have partnered to showcase some of music's top performers.

"I am extremely proud to work with Family & MWR to bring live music to the troops and their Families," said Ne-Yo. "We hope to entertain them while we bring attention the fact that Military Families also give a great personal sacrifice. They sometimes are forgotten in the bigger picture."

Held at the newly dedicated SGT Deon Taylor Ball Fields, Soldiers and their Families, active duty Service Members, retirees, veterans, DoD civilians and their Families and first responders (NYPD/FDNY) will enjoy a day dedicated to the sacrifices of yesterday and today. Active Duty Service Members (to includes National Guard and Reserve) will have access for a personal meet and greet beginning with Ne-Yo that afternoon (rain or shine). The gates will then open at 4 p.m. at the Dyker Park entrance at Dyker Park for registered guests of Lerer Media, Mission Once Voice, The Source, and local radio advertisers.  The evening entertaiment will start promptly at 6 p.m. with a spectacular fireworks display by Grucci immediately following the show.  Those wishing to attend should RSVP at www.MissionOneVoice.com and must have valid identification, such as a driver's license or a passport to gain entry - no exceptions. It is highly recommended that guests arrive by public transportation no on site parking available. Military affiliation is questioned, any guest submitting false information will be prohibited from enterting the venue - please be honest.

"We are looking forward to hosting the concert for our Military Families.  After a successful event last year, we look to make this an annual event to give back to our military personnel and their families," said Sarah Johnson, Family & MWR Director. "It is exciting to hold an event like this to bring celebrities like, Ne-Yo and others here. It's going to be a super event thanks to the continuous support we receive from Lerer Media and The Source Magazine. Our Soldiers and their Families are in for a real treat for this year's Independence Day celebration at Fort Hamilton."

Fort Hamilton is the only active military installation in New York City and serves Service Members and their Families within a 50 mile radius of their home in Brooklyn. Invited guests include Soldiers of Fort Hamilton, joint base Fort Dix-McGuire-Lakehurst (NJ), the National Guard and Reserves units in the area, NY First Responder personnel, Department of Defense employees, The Wounded Warrior Project and Soldiers from West Point, Tobyhanna and their Families. The concert will also feature up and coming DTP/Def Jam artist BXC (www.TheOfficialBXCMusic.com) and will introduce Center for American Military Music Opportunities artist, U.S. Army's own SPC Rena Marie Cunningham and more.      "For the men and women serving in our armed forces, the Source Magazine recognizes their sacrifice and dedication," explains L. Londell McMillan, Publisher. "We pray for peace and wish for our troops to complete their mission and return home safely. We are excited to be a continued co-sponsor for this summer series, helping the Soldiers of Fort Hamilton enjoy the 4th of July weekend with Family and Friends."
