Making a City Smarter: A dialogue about 311 and urban innovation

Friday, May 18th | 8:00 – 10:00 am

Many cities have adopted 311 systems to give citizens more direct and reliable access to government services. 311 systems serve as a front line for non-emergency municipal services and are rapidly becoming a driver for innovation for the whole of city government. Data from 311 systems is changing the way cities manage and collaborate internally. New approaches to sharing 311 data is creating opportunities for civic startups to innovate with new applications and sustainable business models that add value and contribute to improving civic life.

The panel will draw from the experiences of government leaders in charge of implementing 311 in New York City and Philadelphia, and from those in the private sector working on public- private partnerships that are key to advancing smart city innovations.
