Youth & Young Adult Voting Members

At the 2011 Southeastern Iowa Synod Assembly, a resolution was adopted that congregations of the synod be encouraged to send at least one youth or young adult as a voting member of the Synod Assembly, and that the Synod Council is to report to the 2012 Synod Assembly the progress toward a goal for at least 10% of the voting members of the assembly to be youth and young adults.  (The definition of ‘youth’ is a confirmed member 17 and younger.  It is recommended that a voting member be of high school age.  The definition of ‘young adult’ is a confirmed member between the ages of 18-30).

Youth who are 17 and younger are the legal responsibility of the congregation.  Permission and medical forms are the responsibility of the congregation.  Youth will be housed with other youth attending the assembly or with their parents.

Meal Plan

The meal plan for Assembly is $30 and includes Friday Lunch, Friday Dinner, and Saturday Lunch.  A "Hunger Meal" option will be available for Friday.   Augustana College has offered to make a donation to the ELCA World Hunger Appeal for each person that registers and participates in the Friday noon Hunger Meal.   The Hunger Meal consists of soup and bread in place of the regular planned lunch.  $5.00 from the $30 meal plan is donated for each person that participates.
