Everyone with Diabetes Counts - Diabetes Empowerment Education Program Peer Educator Training

Thank you for expressing interest in the Peer Educator Training for the Diabetes Empowerment Education Program (DEEP), part of Everyone with Diabetes Counts! This training is provided by Alliant Quality, a contractor with Medicare, at no cost to you or your organization.

Peer educator training will prepare you to deliver an evidence-based, diabetes education curriculum developed at the University of Illinois-Chicago. You will gain an understanding of the causes, diagnosis and management of diabetes, principles of adult education, DEEP teaching activities, and tips to successfully enroll and graduate your community members in this valuable program.

This peer educator training is 20 hours over the course of three days. The training will be held from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on October 11 - 13, 2017. Participants must attend all three days of training. At the end of the training, participants will be prepared to implement the DEEP curriculum through a six-session workshop to seniors in their communities.
