Experience How Great Art Speaks to Your Family's Faith

Bible Stories in Art

Exploring Baptism

Cancelled

Saturday, May 4, 2019

10:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.

Fee: $15 for families with children, $10 for individuals

During this hour at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, families will explore three works of art related to baptism. The stories that are illustrated will be told interactively, with the children sharing what they see and the leader weaving their observations into the story line and teaching about baptism.

At the end of the hour, families will be free to enjoy the museum on their own, or spend informal time with program leader John Hougen who can lead them to what they want to see, or point out some other works of art popular with children.

Admission to the art museum and parking are free.

Rev. John Hougen, PhD,  is the Interfaith Center of Greater Philadelphia's program leader for The Art of Interfaith Understanding, using the resources of the Philadelphia Museum of Art to further interfaith understanding through encounters with art from the world's religions. He is also an ordained pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and a St. Martin's parishioner.
